Who are we?

We are an interdisciplinary lab based at Tufts University and the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital. Our research integrates the fields of Cognitive Neuroscience, Psycholinguistics, and Cognitive science.

What do we study?

We are investigating the neural mechanisms mediating language comprehension and production in healthy adults. We are also interested in how these mechanisms break down in individuals with neuropsychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia. We use multimodal neuroimaging techniques – fMRI, MEG/EEG, and ERPs – to better understand the spatiotemporal dynamics of these processes in the brain. To learn more about our research questions and specific projects, visit our Research page.

  • Welcome to Stella Roering!

Welcome to Stella Roering, who is joining our lab as a new research assistant! Stella just graduated from Tufts University with a B. S. in Cognitive and Brain Sciences and a minor in French. For her Senior Thesis, she worked with Ariel Goldberg to develop and explore a pose estimation-based measure of phonological sign similarity. Stella will be working on event-related potential studies of the influence of context on language comprehension.

  • Gina presents at Brain and Behavior Research Day (TUSM)

Thank you to Dr. Brent Forester and the Departments of Psychiatry, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuroscience, and Opthalmology  at Tufts Medical Center for hosting Gina's visit to the Tufts School of Medicine, Boston, MA, where she gave a presentation for the Brain and Behavior Research Day. Her talk was titled, "Language in Schizophrenia in the Age of AI: A Theory Informed Framework."
